“The only way to get good at something is to be bad at it for a really long time,” Avraham Vofsi said, explaining his journey as an artist.

Vofsi is currently planning a landscape project with Aboriginal communities, informed by his deepened understanding of what it means to belong to a land as a Jew in Israel.

These paintings and smaller landscapes that Vofsi has painted during his travels around the country in the aftermath of October 7 have contributed to the strengthening of his Jewish identity.

The artist is creating a new visual language for modern Jewish expression. Avraham responds to the currents of modern Jewish life, both in the diaspora and in Israel.
