Kibbutznik in Wheatfield at Tel-Amal

100cm x 127cm, oil on linen

During my first time in Israel, I was struck by the sense of just how present the history of this place is. Many people I met here are closely related to the people who had a direct hand in creating this country, and making many of the important decisions. This feeling of just how alive the history is here made me want to explore creating a work that brought the history to life. I reached out to Israel-Australian singer and filmmaker Anita Lester to model as my Kibbutznik and together we recreated this homage to the strong women who build this country.
